A water-engineering masterclass platform - expert courses, water calculators and AI agent

NerAida - homepage hero with calculators, courses and AI agent pillars

Project goal

To build NerAida from scratch: one platform where water engineers learn through expert courses, run design calculators and get answers from an AI agent, all sold through a single storefront.

NerAida

The world's most advanced water-engineering masterclass, built from the ground up

NerAida sets out to be, in its founders' words, the world's most advanced water engineering masterclass. It is built for the people who design and run water-treatment systems: the engineers, technicians and plant operators. It brings three things together in one place: expert courses, professional calculators and an AI agent that knows the field. We designed and built the whole platform from scratch, the UX and UI as well as the development. It is close to launch, with the founders finishing the content that will fill it.

Water-treatment calculators that give a professional result in seconds

The calculators are the quickest way the platform earns its keep. Instead of rebuilding the same spreadsheet for the hundredth time, an engineer opens a calculator for flow balancing, chemical dosing, membrane sizing or energy recovery and gets a clean, professional-grade result in seconds. The output can be saved and exported for a proposal or an on-site check. The everyday ones are open to anyone, while the advanced calculators sit behind a subscription.

Expert courses that take an engineer from the fundamentals to advanced practice

The courses turn the platform into a proper school. Built by industry experts and structured to take someone from the basics to advanced work, they teach the technologies behind water treatment through real project scenarios rather than theory. The video runs on Mux, so lessons stream smoothly. A course gathers its videos, documents and detail in one place. It is training an engineer can pick up anywhere, at any time.

A documentation library that a working engineer keeps coming back to

Alongside the courses sits a library of engineering documentation. Some of it is open. The deeper material is locked until a user buys it or their subscription covers it. A reader can request access to the full documentation. Once they have it, the download is theirs. It is the reference layer an engineer returns to long after a course is finished.

The world's first Water AI Agent, with an expert on call at any hour

The piece the founders are proudest of is the AI agent, billed as the first of its kind for water. It answers the way a senior water engineer would, from a quick troubleshooting steer to a design recommendation. It draws on several leading models at once, from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google, rather than betting on one. Usage runs on tokens a user tops up. Their chat history stays with them to pick up later. It puts genuine expertise a message away, at any hour.

A full storefront, not a paywall bolted onto a course list

All of that has to be sold, so we built a complete commerce layer on Payload's e-commerce toolkit. Members can subscribe on a basic, advanced or corporate plan, buy a single course or document outright or top up AI tokens, all through one cart and checkout. Each plan carries its own discount levels. Invoices and order history come straight from the platform. A free account lets someone look around before they pay.

Built end to end on Payload and Next.js

Under all of it is a platform we built from nothing. Payload runs the content and the commerce together, so the team manages courses, documents, calculators, pricing and the site itself from one admin. The front-end is Next.js, standing on a design system and a deep component library we made for the project. Around that we wired the pieces a platform like this needs: Mux for video, transactional email, cache revalidation, analytics and the account security to keep sessions and access in check. None of it existed before we started.

Outcome

NerAida is finished on our side. The courses stream, the calculators run, the AI agent answers and the storefront takes payment. What remains is the founders' own work, filling it with the courses and documents that will make it the masterclass they set out to build. When they open the doors, the platform underneath is ready.
